Prayer s of intercession
Gracious God, our Good Shepherd and our risen Lord,
we gather on this Lord’s Day acknowledging that you
have called us by name. We thank you that you did not
come to steal or destroy, but so that we might have life,
and have it to the full. As we rest in your green pastures
today, we lift our hearts in prayer for a world in need of
your guiding staff.
Our Good Shephard who calls us by our name,
Guide us to your still waters and green pastures.
Lord, we pray for the peace of this world. In places of
“darkest valleys” where conflict and fear reside, let your
peace that passes understanding prevail. We pray for
the leaders of the nations; grant them the wisdom of the
Shepherd. Lead them beside still waters of diplomacy
and righteousness, that they may seek the well-being of
all people over the pursuit of power.
Our Good Shephard who calls us by our name,
Guide us to your still waters and green pastures.
We pray for the Body of Christ globally and locally. We
ask for a true revival—not of buildings, but of spirits.
Open our ears to hear only the voice of the True
Shepherd and ignore the calls of strangers. We pray
specifically for our Minister and his family; refresh their
souls, protect their home, and let them feel your cup
overflowing with grace as they lead us.
Our Good Shephard who calls us by our name,
Guide us to your still waters and green pastures.
We lift up our teachers and school children. In a world
of loud voices, help our young ones to recognise truth.
Protect them in their classrooms and playgrounds. Grant
our educators patience and strength, and may our
schools be safe folds where every child can grow and
flourish.
Our Good Shephard who calls us by our name,
Guide us to your still waters and green pastures.
Jehovah Rapha, our healer, we bring before you those
who are sick in our church, our communities, and our
own households. Be the restoration of their souls and
the healer of their bodies. For those mourning the loss
of departed loved ones, walk with them through the
valley of the shadow of death. Let them fear no evil,
knowing that you are directly beside them, comforting
them with your rod and staff.
Our Good Shephard who calls us by our name,
Guide us to your still waters and green pastures.
We hand over to you all the activities taking place in our
churches—the worship, the fellowship, the outreach, and
the quiet moments of service. May every door opened
in our church be the “gate” that leads people to find
pasture. Keep us safe in our going out and our coming
in, shielding us from harm and anointing our heads with
the oil of your Spirit.
Our Good Shephard who calls us by our name,
Guide us to your still waters and green pastures.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow us all the
days of our lives and we shall dwell in the house of
the Lord. We commit these prayers to you, trusting
in the one who laid down his life for the sheep,
Jesus Christ our Good Shepherd and risen Lord.
Amen.
